The design and style of Fez embroidery is characterised by Hispano-Mooresque design elements in the form of abstracted florals and geometrics. The embroidery is done with tightly coiled silk on cotton, always in single colours, typically rust-reds, indigo, deep purples and faded greens. The exquisite handwork is executed in a counted thread technique such as reversible double running stitch, stem stitch & back stitch.
Antique fragments are highly collectable and increasingly rare
