The panels of porcupine quill panels arranged in a chevron pattern, bordered with ebony and bone inlaid banding.
Ceylonese ebony and porcupine quill boxes were mainly produced in southern Ceylon for the European market during the second half of the 19th Century, imitating traditional forms such as jewellery boxes, sewing baskets and writing boxes.
The panels of porcupine quill panels arranged in a chevron pattern, bordered with ebony and bone inlaid banding.
