An early nineteenth century Regency Period ebonised open armchair or desk chair.
The broad, slightly bowed crest rail above a stick back with generous scrolling arms on a shaped caned seat and terminating on turned front legs and out-swept rear legs.
Retains original embroidered horsehair squab cushion.
In wonderful untouched condition with the ebonising rubbed back in places to reveal richly patinated timber, some old splits visible, but overall in good very solid condition, including what appears to be original cane seat.
