A Fine George II Giltwood mirror, c. 1735.
The rectangular bevelled plate is set within a geometric-carved border, surmounted by an acanthus-carved broken pediment centred by a foliate cartouche with scallop shell decoration. The apron is decorated with further scrolling acanthus and scallop shell carving.
Condition: The gilt surface has the expected cracking, wear and small chips comensurate with age. The central crest shows signs of some old restoration.
The bevelled plate appears to be original with overall foxing.
Panelled backboard is an old replacement. Various old screw holes to the back from previous fixtures.
